3/2/2024 0 Comments Diablo 2 weapon speed by class![]() ![]() Note that character forms (Bear Form for the Druid, for example, or the Vampire Form for the Necromancer) affect the base speed and Breakpoints for the character. The only exception is the Assassin with her Traps: despite being a “caster,” the speed of laying traps is actually affected by the Increased Attack Speed (IAS), not FCR. This stat is most important for casters. You will find it on a wide variety of gear. This modifier, hopefully, should be self-explanatory: this is the rate at which your character casts their spells. The lower the number, the better! Faster Cast Rate (FCR) Note: if “Frames” in the tabs below confuse you, just think of them as the time it takes for the character to perform the action. Ideally, you will want to know what percent you need to reach to “level up” your casting, hit recovery, blocking, and attacking speed with the character. ![]() Then, you will need to get to 46% to see any difference in the speed once again. Only when you get to the 30% Breakpoint will your Druid cast his spells a little bit faster. Or even 29% Faster Cast Rate, for that matter. So, there is no difference between your Druid having 20% Faster Cast Rate and 25% as bonuses on his gear. In simpler terms, there is no point in stacking these “Faster” modifier percentages until you know you can reach a certain point with them. At the core, it’s all just about increasing certain values to the point (“Breakpoint”, if you will) when a frame gets shaved off of your character’s animation for casting, being stunned from critical hits, blocking, or swinging the weapon. Why Do Breakpoints Matter?īreakpoints are an artifact of Diablo 2’s age as a game, along with its 25 frames per second animation speed. No weird complicated math or involved frame-counting plugins needed. ![]() Simply put, Breakpoints are cut-off thresholds for when your “Faster Cast Rate,” “Faster Hit Recovery,” “Faster Block Rate,” and “Increased Rate of Attack” bonuses actually affect your character. ![]() For a newer player, this might seem like a bunch of fidgety math and frame-counting - but what is it really? Endgame players in Diablo 2 talk about Breakpoints a lot and why they matter so much. ![]()
